A tiny fraction of scans produce a shiny creature — the same species, but with rare alternate colours, extra sparkle and a glow that makes collectors' hearts skip. You never know when the next scan will be the one.

The real mechanic

Scanning lays an egg. Hatching is the payoff.

A fresh barcode doesn't hand you a finished creature straight away — it lays an egg, rarity visible immediately from its shell colour. Every egg's entire genetic code is derived from that barcode, so when it hatches, watching the DNA assemble is the honest picture of what's actually happening.

Every egg is procedurally shelled — colour, pattern, spots, runes, crystals, horns, glow and aura all roll separately, and rarer eggs roll more elaborate ones.
Cracks spread across the shell as it gets close, then real shaking kicks in right before it hatches.
Mythic eggs sit in front of a small starfield. Ultra Mythic ones wear a genuinely animated, hue-shifting rainbow aura.

The rarer the egg, the stranger the creature

Common through Legendary creatures are pure — a Bird is just a Bird, with better colours and textures as it climbs. But from Epic up, other kingdoms start bleeding in. An Epic Bird might hatch as a Demon Bird. An Exceptional one fuses two kingdoms — a Robot Demon Bird, metal-plated with horns and burning eyes. It's the same barcode every time, so the fusion is yours to keep.
